Cotton is Key.
KoTon™ is a cottonseed product created specifically for the hydromulch industry through a proprietary process. The coating is rich in amino acids, organic matter, minerals, complex sugars, and pectins. These elements are natural polysaccharides that act as glues and thickeners.
Strong Adhesive for Successful Stabilization.
Wood- and paper-based hyromulch products are comprised primarily of lignin. KoTon™ contains pectic esters, calcium pectate, cellulose, and hemicellulose acting as natural glues and thickeners. These components help KoTon™ naturally stick to the soil - even during severe rain events.
Nutrient-Rich for Robust Plant Establishment.
KoTon™ contains a full mineral analysis. In addition to being a soil stabilizer, it provides meaningful amounts of organic nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and other nutrients necessary for plant establishment. KoTon™ has a carbon:nitrogen ratio of approximately 10:1 - much lower than competitive products. The higher the C:N ratio, the more difficult it is for plants and microbial life to access the nitrogen in the product. KoTon's™ lower C:N ratio, and high amount of amino acid-based nitrogen, the material is readily available to the biology of soil and plants.

Moisture Locked-In.
The natural glues and thickeners in Koton ensure a water-holding capacity of over 300%. Research shows that wood mulches' water-holding capacity ranges from approximately 110% (birch) to 160% (red oak).
100% Natural
100% Sustainable
KoTon™ Hydromulch and the KerTac Tackifier are naturally sourced. Competitive mulches use synthetic fibers for soil stabilization. Cottonseed fibers are effective for long-term stabilization without contributing to microplastic pollution. Once vegetation is established, KoTon and KerTac break down and release any remaining nutrients in the soil.
Created Through a Science-Based Process
Everything we do is deeply rooted in science-based methodologies. Months of dedicated research and development went into creating KoTon hydromulch. After extensive testing, we've created a product that is highly effective and sustainable.
